  2. Holidays to be observed in Delhi Govt 2024  

Days/off in a regular Calendar month

  A Nursing Officer recruited under Central/Delhi Govt or other Central Govt run institute may be posted either for Shift Duty or General (OPD) Duty. One need to perform his/her shift duties as per roster prepared by the Ward In/Charge (Sr. Nursing Officer or Assistant Nursing Superintendent) of the respective department. Nursing Officers posted in shift duties are offered Days/off or Compensatory off as under:

  1. 08 Days/off per month – fixed

  2. 01 Day/off extra in months of January, August and October each.

  3. 01 Day/off extra for each declared Holiday that is not listed in Gazette Holiday notification. 

  4. 01 Day/off for casting vote in MLA/MP elections 

The Representation of People Act, 1951, (RP Act), mandates that every enterprise must declare a holiday on the polling day in their area. “Per Section 135B of the RP Act, it is mandatory for all organisations to grant paid leave to their employees on the date of the election, whether central or state.

Penalty: the ECI is entitled to conduct an enquiry and impose a penalty of Rs 500, per the RP act. The ECI can also file FIRs under the Indian Penal Code for violating the order of a public authority, depending on the case 

  1. ½ Day/off for casting vote in Municipality elections.

  2. any other Holiday declared out of the Govt Gazette  

  • Ambedkar Jayanti (अंबेडकर जयंती): 14 April

  • Chhatt Puja (छठ पूजा)

  • Valmiki Jayanti (वाल्मीकि जयंती)

  • Phool Waalon ki Sair (फूल वालों की सैर): 2 hours Short Leave

Standard Deduction of Days/off in case Leave

  • up to 3 days Leave:             No deduction

  • 4 to 7 days Leave:                1 Day/off

  • 8 to 10 days:                          2 Days/off

  • 11 to 13 days Leave:            3 Days/off

  • 14 to 15 Days Leave:            4 Days/off

Eligibility of Days/off

               A Nursing Officer shall be eligible to avail One Day off in a calendar month if he/she has rendered duties for minimum of Four Days. For Example, if one has joined duties on 28th March 2024, then he/she is eligible to avail One Day off. It is all discretionary power of Nursing Superintendent or Chief Nursing Officer of the institution to award One Day/off after rendering duties for 3 days also. 

NOTE: The above standard deduction DOES NOT require any Office Order/Office Memorandum/Circular since it is well understood. Remember always,  an employee deployed in office that is operational 5 days a week, can avail 5 days EL without any deduction in his/her weekly days off.
